Alginate Substitute Impression Materials

Alginate substitute materials are designed to provide similar properties to alginates without some of the negative attributes of that material. Alginate substitutes are often used for impressions for temporary restorations, removable restorations, orthodontics, and the fabrication of dental models. These materials are often used with a simple protocol and the material should be capable of producing accurate impressions that are easy to remove. An advantage of many alginate alternative impression materials is that models or temporary restorations can be poured immediately after the impression was captured, saving time for both clinician and patient.
