Digital impression systems continue to make their transition from high-tech clinical concept toward the modern-day standard of care. These impression systems not only power chairside CAD/CAM systems, but they also provide clinicians with a more efficient and accurate impression process that is less bothersome to patients. Using a range of imaging technologies, these intraoral scanners capture the data necessary to build an exacting digital 3D model of a patient's teeth and surrounding tissues. There's a range of options to consider when looking for the right digital impression solution for your practice, including how fast the system scans, what labs, chairside systems, and other digital solutions can be connected to the system, and how it will fit into the practice. Fitting these systems into a practice can be much easier when the digital impression solution is portable. While most of the original designs featured wheeled carts, newer digital impression solutions can be even more portable.
