Oral Airways

Used to prevent an unconscious patient’s tongue from covering his or her epiglottis and preventing normal breathing, oral airways are good to have on hand during surgical procedures or in case of a medical emergency. Also known as oropharyngeal airways, OPA or Guedel pattern airways, these devices are often disposable. Some oral airways are fabricated from latex, so it is important ask patients about allergies to avoid potential complications.
