Gut Sutures

Gut sutures are a mainstay, naturally derived suture material that is well suited for use with uncomplicated soft tissue procedures. These resorbable sutures are derived from purified collagen and other connective tissue from the intestines of either cows or sheep. This material provides a highly pure collagen which provides strength. The material is also smooth, making these sutures easy to tie. The natural collagen gut is broken down by the patient as the wound heals, and these sutures do not need to be removed.
