Dental instruments manufacturer Hu-Friedy and power scaling and polishing manufacturer Electro Medical Systems (EMS) have formed a strategic alliance with the goal of promoting a clinically advanced prophylaxis protocol build around high-quality hand instrumentation combined with Piezo power scaling and air polishing.
The partnership makes Hu-Friedy the exclusive U.S. and Canadian distributor of EMS Piezon power scalers as well as AIR-FLOW air polishing products. The goal of the partnership is to promote the use of these systems along with Hu-Friedy hand instruments for a comprehensive prophylaxis treatment, according to a press release. More than just a distribution deal, the partnership also includes clinical education, research and Key Opinion Leader partnerships.
As a part of the partnership, the two companies will be launching a suite of co-branded products that includes a line of piezo scalers, a line of air polishers and combination systems. These products will include the Piezon 250 and 150 scalers, the Piezon Master 700 scaler, the AIR-FLOW Master, the AIR-FLOW Master Piezon combination unit, the AIR-FLOW S2 combination unit, the AIR-FLOW S1 air polishing unit, the AIR-FLOW handy 3.0 air polishing unit and the PERIO model, as well as AIR-FLOW air polishing powders and piezo tips.
