Carestream Dental Donates CBCT Imaging Unit to University of Florida College of Dentistry
In June 2011, the University of Florida College of Dentistry’s Class of 2013 achieved an outstanding 100 percent first time pass rate on Part One of the National Board Dental Exams. The college was ranked 10th in the nation for federally funded research, according to a 2012 study by the National Institute of Health (NIH). Now, Carestream Dental will help further the University of Florida College of Dentistry’s mission to develop outstanding clinical, research and teaching professionals committed to lifelong learning.
Carestream Dental recently donated a cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) imaging unit to the University of Florida College of Dentistry. The new equipment, a CS 9300, brings the latest in dental X-ray technology to future dental professionals studying at the college. This donation also benefits the uninsured and underinsured patients who receive care at the campus teaching clinic and through the college’s community outreach programs.
The CS 9300 provides users with exceptional image quality and imaging flexibility, covering a wide scope of clinical needs. Featuring up to seven selectable fields of view for 3D images, ranging from 5 cm x 5 cm to 17 cm x 13.5 cm, the unit enables practitioners to focus on a specific region of interest by collimating the field of view – limiting radiation exposure to patients. The CS 9300’s capabilities also include 2D digital panoramic imaging in addition to an optional cephalometric modality.
“Partnering with dental schools across North America is rewarding for Carestream Dental because we believe that training with the latest technology is essential to the next generation of dental practitioners,” said Marc Gordon, Carestream Dental’s general manager of U.S. equipment and software. “Through our donation of the CS 9300 to the University of Florida, we’re proud to support the future of dentistry.”
