The new Invisalign Outcome Simulator is an interactive chairside application for the iTero and iOC intraoral scanners that enhances patient education by allowing clinicians to show patients an image of the benefits possible with the proposed Invisalign treatment.
The application is available for the current iTero and iOC scanners as well as for the forthcoming new iTero scanner, according to a press release. The application is designed to increase acceptance of proposed Invisalign treatments.
The Invisalign Outcome Simulator features a dual view layout that shows a patient an image of his or her current dentition next to a simulation of the final tooth position. The Simulator works based on a full arch scan, and then takes a few minutes to create the outcome image which can be viewed on the scanner’s monitor or on another computer using MyAlignTech.com. Tools in the simulator allow clinicians to make real-time adjustments to individual teeth.

Align Technology Announces Availability of Invisalign® Outcome Simulator
Intra-Oral Scanning Application Helps Patients Visualize Treatment Benefits With Invisalign
San Jose, Calif. -- Align Technology, Inc. today announced the commercial availability of the Invisalign Outcome Simulator, the Company's first Invisalign chair-side application powered by the iTero and iOC scanners. Previewed earlier this year, the interactive application provides dentists and orthodontists an enhanced platform for patient education and is designed to increase treatment acceptance by helping patients visualize the benefits possible with Invisalign treatment.
"The Invisalign Outcome Simulator is an exciting new chair-side tool, available for current iTero and iOC scanners as well as the newly announced iTero, that doctors can use to reveal a customized potential Invisalign outcome thereby engendering more Invisalign treatment choices for patients," said Greg Morrow, Align Technology vice president and general manager of Invisalign.
As the only Invisalign chair-side intra-oral scanning application on the market, the Invisalign Outcome Simulator's unique dual view layout shows a prospective patient an image of his/her own current dentition next to his/her simulated final position of how their teeth may look after Invisalign treatment. Using a full arch Invisalign scan, the easy-to-use Invisalign Outcome Simulator takes a few minutes to run and may be viewed chair-side, on the scanner, or from a computer using MyAlignTech.com. Intuitive tools allow doctors to make real-time adjustments to individual teeth during consultations that increase patient education and the likelihood of patient acceptance.
