A recently completed 12-month clinical evaluation found Kerr’s OptiBond XTR performed as well or better than the company’s OptiBond FL without requiring the use of a phosphoric acid etchant.
The study was conducted by Dr. Bart Van Meerbeek at Catholic University in Leuven, Belgium, and involved 240 class V restorations bonded with either OptiBond XTR or OptiBond FL. The overall success rate for the OptiBond XTR restorations was 97.5% while the overall success rate for the OptiBond FL restorations was 94.8%, according to a press release.

OPTIBOND XTR 12 MONTH CLINICAL EVALUATION
A 12-month clinical evaluation on Kerr’s OptiBond XTR and OptiBond FL has been completed. And here’s the verdict is in!
Recently, Dr. Bart Van Meerbeek of Catholic University in Leuven, Belgium, conducted a clinical evaluation involving 240 Class V restorations, using OptiBond XTR and OptiBond FL.
At 12 months, the overall success rate for OptiBond XTR restorations was 97.5% vs. 94.8% for OptiBond FL. The clinical evaluation demonstrated that OptiBond XTR performed at the same level of OptiBond FL, without use of phosphoric acid.
