San Jose, Calif. – For most teens getting braces is something you smile about after you’ve finished treatment, but 18-year-old Tessa Dyer hasn’t stopped smiling since learning her Invisalign orthodontic treatment would be provided at no charge. Dyer is a patient of Drs. Rachel Polgrean and Patricia Timmeny at Apple Tree Orthodontics in Londonderry, New Hampshire, and was informed during a recent visit that she is the two millionth patient worldwide to be treated with Invisalign. To commemorate the milestone, Dyer’s Invisalign Teen treatment will be completely covered by Align Technology, makers of Invisalign and Invisalign Teen.
"I’ve wanted to correct my teeth for a long time and the time was right. Really right," said Dyer. "I can’t believe I am the two millionth patient and that my treatment will be free. Of all the braces options that Drs. Polgrean and Dr. Timmeny presented to me, Invisalign Teen best fit my lifestyle and, best of all, hardly anyone will be able to tell I am straightening my teeth. I was excited about Invisalign Teen before, but now I can’t wait to get started with my treatment."
Dr. Polgrean is equally excited for Dyer and looks forward to making her smile brighter.
"When Tessa came in for her consultation and we discussed the options, she very quickly decided on Invisalign Teen,” said Dr. Polgrean. “Invisalign is an extremely versatile treatment that can be used to treat many different types of orthodontic cases. I’m honored to be sharing this milestone with Align Technology and with Tessa."
When introduced by Align Technology in 1999, Invisalign was viewed as one of the most significant innovations in orthodontics in nearly 20 years. Ten years later, Invisalign celebrated the treatment of its one millionth patient. Since then, the treatment’s popularity amongst adults and teens has accelerated exponentially. And only three years later, one million more patients have chosen Invisalign and Invisalign Teen. Approximately 260,000 teenagers between 11-19 years old have been treated with Invisalign since Invisalign Teen was introduced in 2008.
