Machine Assisted Obturation

Machine assisted obturation can make the root canal process more efficient and less time consuming. Proper endodontic obturation is necessary to heal and prevent periapical disease. The most commonly used techniques are lateral condensation and vertical compaction using gutta percha. Machine assisted obturation most often utilizes warm gutta percha. Most machine assisted obturation systems use a gun or refillable cartridge that allows fast and continuous flow of filling materials. Features may include variable temperature settings, quick heating element, ergonomically designed handpiece with swivel, a variety of tips for even the narrowest root canal and variable power. Be sure to research what clinical applications are best suited for each obturation machine.
