The XIOSPlus intraoral sensor system provides flexibility of capturing quality digital X-rays by using either an Ethernet or USB module. With Sirona�s intuitive SIDEXIS XG software, practitioners can view digital X-rays directly on any computer monitor or the office network without license fees.

The Ethernet (wall module) is easy to integrate into any network. Using its large-sized multicolor display, the user can confirm patient information prior to taking the image. Various LCD colors indicate the current operational status. The wall module also allows the user to plug in two sensors simultaneously, so that the right sensor is always close at hand. The HELIODENTPLUS is a compact, ultra-light, intraoral X-ray generator for film-based and digital imaging. The user can switch from the film-based to the digital mode with the touch of a button. Spectra is a lightweight, ergonomic, handheld non-invasive digital imaging instrument that aids the dentist in detecting caries visually. Spectra operates using fluorescence technology. LED's project high-energy light with a wavelength of 405 nanometers onto the tooth surface causing cariogenic bacteria to fluoresce red. In contrast, healthy enamel fluoresces green. The captured data is sent to the computer and the live image is presented on the monitor. Images can be saved to the patient record for future reference. With Spectra, the dentist can identify the exact location of potential carious lesions on tooth surfaces.

The field-of-view (FOV) selection provision enables the user to select the optimum FOV size (20x19/20x15 cm, 16x10 cm, 16 x 7 cm) and limits the radiation dosage to only the necessary level for examination contained to the region of interest. Compatible with most intraoral mirrors for intraoral photography, the PhotoMed Universal Mirror Handle allows the mirror to be positioned inline with the handle or the mirror can be angled. Two new panoramic bitewing programs (BW1 and BW2) are available for the ORTHOPHOS� XGPlus and XG 5 panoramic units and allow the practitioner to take a diagnostic image quickly and easily.

The new bitewing programs provide practitioners with the option of taking an extraoral bitewing image when an intraoral image is difficult or not feasible. The programs are easy to use, and are a low-dose alternative for diagnosis in the posterior and anterior regions.

The BW1 posterior program provides additional diagnostic information compared to standard intraoral bitewings and is a suitable alternative for patients with challenging intraoral anatomy. With the XG 5, both sides are imaged, while the right, left or both sides can be selected on the XGPlus units.

The BW2 anterior program provides a detailed overview image of the anterior area. It can be used with the edentulous positioning guide for anterior trauma patients. It is a lower-dose alternative to multiple occlusal images when focusing on the anterior region.

Designed to maximize the efficiency of chairside CAD CAM dentistry, Rapid Scan has been integrated into the newest version of E4D DentaLogic software. Rapid Scan allows the E4D Clinical Operator to capture digital images at a rapid and automatic pace based on the operator�s preferred speed of capture. Highly-precise, digitally fabricated models are now available for select cases processed through the CEREC Connect online communication platform by CEREC inLab users. The digital impression sent by the CEREC dentist is uploaded into the inifiniDent system and the model is sent to the laboratory ready for wax-up or porcelain build-up. Additionally, the dentist receive the full-arch and quadrant tooth-colored models, presented with precisely ditched and separated dies. These physical models are particularly suited for bridges, PFMs, and gold crowns.

Lava Zirconia now can be used to fabricate custom-designed implant abutments that can be custom-designed for the individual patient.

Implant abutments made from Lava zirconia are compatible with a wide variety of implant systems, allowing dentists to provide patients with a highly esthetic option while still utilizing the underlying implant systems with which they are familiar. To create the abutment, Lava zirconia is cemented to a prefabricated titanium abutment interface; the metal-to-metal connection between the screw and abutment means the screw does not torque directly into the zirconia material. This allows dentists to follow standard recommendations for torque pressures on the screw and abutment.

For dentists, the precision technology used to manufacture the abutment helps minimize manual adjustments in the office. Lava zirconia for implant abutments comes in the same eight shades as are offered for Lava� Crowns, meaning dentists can select a matching abutment and crown to create the most natural-looking restoration.

In the laboratory, time spent grinding down a stock abutment to fit properly is minimized or eliminated. Because the abutment is tailored for the individual patient dentition, the technician can design the abutment based on both the implant and adjacent teeth, allowing for proper tissue management and a better esthetic outcome.

ADSTRA Charting Treatment Planning and Charting Software is now available as a stand-alone, after more than six years of being available only as a module (add-on) of ADSTRA�s practice management software. The Charting program integrates seamlessly with ADSTRA CLAIMS PLUS� free management software program, which allows users to submit billing information electronically to Emdeon (formerly WebMD).

The comprehensive easy-to-use software program allows users to create and manage odontograms. Dental charts can be created for examinations, for completed treatment, and for planned treatment. There are four views of the chart: maxillary, mandibular, buccal, and palatal-lingual. The charting tools are grouped by type: general, periodontal, restorative, and endodontic.
