Icon Incipient Caries Treatment DMG America |
 |
Developed to treat incipient caries, Icon is a caries infiltrant that incorporates micro-invasive technology to fill, reinforce, and stabilize demineralized enamel without drilling or sacrificing healthy tooth structure. Bridging the gap between prevention (fluoride therapy) and caries restoration, Icon can be used to treat smooth surface and proximal carious lesions up to the first third of dentin (D-1). In a single patient visit, Icon can arrest the progression of early enamel lesions and remove white spot lesions. Icon offers a simple alternative to the “wait and see” approach, enabling immediate treatment without unnecessary loss of healthy tooth structure. Icon prevents lesion progression and increases life expectancy for the tooth. Icon also provides a highly esthetic alternative to microabrasion and other restorative treatments for cariogenic white spot lesions; white spot lesions infiltrated by Icon take on the appearance of the surrounding healthy enamel. Use of Icon is described as simple and user-friendly: After isolating the tooth with rubber dam and placing wedges to separate the teeth, the tooth surface is prepared with a 15% HCL gel to open the pore system of the lesion body. Next, the surface is rinsed, dried with ethanol, and further dried with air. The Icon Infiltrant resin, which has a high penetration coefficient, is applied onto the lesion, excess material is removed, and the material is light cured. The manufacturer recommends applying a second layer of the infiltrant, followed by additional light curing.
Icon will be available in the US by September 2009 in Proximal and Smooth Surface kits. The Icon kits provide everything necessary for treatment except the rubber dam, including specially designed dental wedges, patented perforated applicator tips for the materials, individual syringes filled with Icon-Etch, Icon-Dry (ethanol), Icon-Infiltrant, and both written and diagrammatic instructions. All syringes come in a special screw-type applicator to ensure the materials are gently and slowly extruded onto the tooth.
Icon Proximal is available in a Mini-kit with two treatment units, or a package of seven units. Each proximal treatment unit contains enough material for two proximal lesions. The Icon Smooth Surface Mini-kit includes two treatment units and is also available in packages of seven units, enough material for two or three smooth surface lesions per unit.

VISTAPure Distilled-Quality Water System Pelton & Crane |
 |
The VistaPure system produces two grades of water — distilled-quality water for autoclaves and ultra filtered non-corrosive water for bottles used with dental delivery systems.
The first stage is a prefilter that removes sediment, chlorine, chloramines, trihalomethanes and other contaminants by physical filtration, absorption and adsorption.
Next is the hyper filtration stage where pressure forces the water through a semi permeable membrane, removing contaminants at the molecular level. Impurities such as nitrates, sulfates, heavy metals, sodium, calcium and approximately 95% of other water contaminants are removed and rinsed away from the membrane and down the drain.
The water is then sent to a cartridge that contains both cationic and anionic resins for removing any remaining contaminants by a deionization process.
The final stage is a polishing filter. The finished water is then sent to a 2.7 gallon storage reservoir where it is easily dispensed for use.
The system is a standard feature of Solaris Sterilzation Centers. Added 04/23/2009 |

Osstell ISQ Implant Osseointegration Monitor Osstell AB |
 |
Engineered to provide an objective measurement of implant stability, the Osstell ISQ not only measures initial implant stability, but also monitors the development of osseointegration over time. The instrument employs resonance frequency to determine a numerical implant stability quotient (ISQ) that indicates the level of osseointegration and serves as a quantitative baseline for subsequent monitoring; levels range from 1 to 100 and the higher, the value, the more stable the implant.
Osstell ISQ helps the dentist make a well-informed decision about the optimal time to load the implant. By detecting implants that are not performing as expected it also helps avoid failing treatments.
The Osstell ISQ is described as exceptionally easy to use and extremely accurate. It comprises a display unit, a handheld probe, SmartPegs that attach to the implant during measurement, and data manager software. The software which is installed on a PC enables storage, viewing and printing of measurements made with the Osstell instrument. Added 04/15/2009 |

EndoPulse Endodontic Handpiece Endo Technic |
 |
The EndoPulse TM (EP) / Canal Finder System™ (CFS) automated endodontic handpiece replicates natural hand movement using Vertical Reciprocation and a passive Ľ turn; this motion eliminates "Torque Stress" and the risk of file separation.
Accompanied by Stainless Steel Master Files™ (designed for vertical reciprocation) the EP delivers safe and fast canal debridement, from Access to Apex, in the most calcified and curved canals with no transportation. It manages ovoids, fins, and tapers. Additionally, the EndoPulseTM Self Irrigates while filing and cavitates syringe-administered NaOCl in canals to reduce chair time to wash away debris and lubricate the canal. Use the water from existing tubing or add Set Flow System to deliver 50% concentration of Sodium Hypochlorite during instrumentation. If hand irrigation is preferred, simply turn off water flow and continue to file with the EP.

Master 3DS Cone Beam Imaging System E-WOO Technology USA Inc. |
 |
Designed for use in both private practice and institutional dental care facilities, the Master 3DS cone beam imaging system offers a new GPU solution--3D reconstruction time improved to less than 35 seconds with even less 3D CT scan time: 15 seconds for normal and 24 seconds for high def.
The field-of-view (FOV) selection provision enables the user to select the optimum FOV size (20x19/20x15 cm, 16x10 cm, 16 x 7 cm) and limits the radiation dosage to only the necessary level for examination contained to the region of interest. For example, the FOV size of 20 x 19cm captures a comprehensive 3D view of the entire oral and maxillofacial anatomy including the TMJ, sinus, and airways on a single 360 degree scan whereas the FOV of 16 x 7cm would capture both mandibular condyle and upper and lower occlusion area of oral anatomy.
EzImplant, the dynamic and efficient 3D image solution, offers comprehensive information for precise assessments, diagnosis, and treatment plans by using the auxiliary functions such as measuring, canal tracing, cross-sectional viewing and implant simulation.
The Master 3D series provides a selection of voxel sizes which improves the overall image resolution. The smaller voxel size (0.164mm) offers the highest image quality while normal voxel sizes (0.3, 0.4mm) are suitable for diagnostic images with less reconstruction time and smaller file size.
With the new Master 3DS, there are 3 types of patient positioning – standing, seated (optional chair), and wheel-chair-confined patient accessibility.

Waterlase MD Turbo All-Tissue Dental Laser BIOLASE Technology, Inc. |
 |
Engineered to cut at speeds comparable to a high-speed handpiece, the Waterlase MD Turbo all-tissue laser operates in a non-contact mode (it never touches the tooth), using laser energy and a gentle spray of water to perform restorations without heat, vibration or pressure. A contra-angle handpiece with a computer designed optical tip replaces the traditional handpiece and its fiber tip.
The optical tip is capable of focusing the laser beam to a 500- or 700-micron diameter spot size, depending on which of two available Waterlase MD™ Turbo tips is used (MX5 – 500 microns, or MX7 – 700 microns). The beam maintains this spot diameter for a distance of approximately 1 3 mm at a distance of about 3 – 5mm from the tip, providing maximum cutting efficiency across that distance, for fast and effective Classes I –V cavity preparations.
Additionally, the Waterlase MD Turbo provides ultra-bright, shadow-free illumination and red aiming beam for enhanced visibility and tractability in the surgical field

Crown Prepping Carbides in Additional Sizes/Shapes KOMET USA LLC |
 |
KOMET USA’s Crown Prepping Carbides will be offered in all new shapes and sizes on Wednesday, April 1, 2009.
Previously, the Crown Prepping Carbides were only offered in three sizes: the flat-ended bur H837KRU (2 sizes) designed for shoulder preps; and the round-ended bur H881U (1 size) which is more suited to create chamfer preps. Additional sizes and shapes are H856U.016, H379U.023, H846KRU.014/016, H847KRU.014/016, H878KU.014/016 and H881U.012/014/016. This flexibility allows dentists who perform more traditional crown preparations the instruments they need to accomplish a more successful procedure.
The Crown Prepping Carbides enable precise and controlled tooth reduction while providing a finished surface comparable to that achieved by using a diamond finisher. Designed in conjunction with Donald J. Alexander, DDS, of Jacksonville, FL, Crown Prepping Carbides provide real quick and smooth chatter-free cut patterns.
The residual finish allows for both gross and finish work to be accomplished using the same instrument. Also, the tips were engineered to match up precisely with the required chamfer or shoulder prep design depending on the desired material. The instruments allow for a fast and precise controlled tooth reduction resulting in a finished surface much better than one completed with a super coarse diamond instrument. Their use eliminates the need for an additional finishing instrument. Added 03/11/2009 |

Lava Zirconia for Implant Abutments 3M™ ESPE™ |
 |
Lava Zirconia now can be used to fabricate custom-designed implant abutments that can be custom-designed for the individual patient. Implant abutments made from Lava zirconia are compatible with a wide variety of implant systems, allowing dentists to provide patients with a highly esthetic option while still utilizing the underlying implant systems with which they are familiar. To create the abutment, Lava zirconia is cemented to a prefabricated titanium abutment interface; the metal-to-metal connection between the screw and abutment means the screw does not torque directly into the zirconia material. This allows dentists to follow standard recommendations for torque pressures on the screw and abutment.
For dentists, the precision technology used to manufacture the abutment helps minimize manual adjustments in the office. Lava zirconia for implant abutments comes in the same eight shades as are offered for Lava™ Crowns, meaning dentists can select a matching abutment and crown to create the most natural-looking restoration. In the laboratory, time spent grinding down a stock abutment to fit properly is minimized or eliminated. Because the abutment is tailored for the individual patient dentition, the technician can design the abutment based on both the implant and adjacent teeth, allowing for proper tissue management and a better esthetic outcome.
Lava zirconia for implant abutments is available through any dental laboratory via use of a 3M ESPE Authorized Lava™ Manufacturing Center (ALMC) or Lava™ Digital Center (ALDC). Added 03/05/2009 |

The varnish remains on the tooth for six months or longer and is moisture tolerant, eliminating the need to dry or pre-treat the root surface. Its use requires no rubber dam. Offering fluoride, calcium and phosphate release, the resin-modified glass ionomer formulation significantly reduces dentin permeability by occluding dentinal tubules in-office for immediate pain relief. Vanish XT also protects the tooth surface from acid attack.
In vitro tests conducted with Vanish XT demonstrate that the coating:
• Creates a barrier against demineralization and acid erosion
• Provides protection beyond the coating
• Helps repair demineralized enamel adjacent to the coating

Panasil Initial Contact Impression Material Kettenbach LP |
 |
Because of its unique initial hydrophilicity, Panasil® initial contact “wash” impression materials can immediately overcome any remaining moisture in the mouth, resulting in an exact impression every time, even in situations with a deep sulcus or a moist environment. Panasil initial contact is highly thixotropic, with outstanding flow properties and a short intra-oral setting time. Because of its outstanding flow properties, Panasil® initial contact will enter narrow gaps and does not slump or drip off the tooth into the oral cavity.
Panasil® initial contact is available in three viscosities – X-light (very low viscosity), light (low viscosity) and regular (medium viscosity). Panasil® initial contact X-light flows evenly into extremely tight crevices and, during two-step putty-wash impressions, forms only a thin layer on the preliminary impression material. The even higher thixotropy of Panasil® initial contact light is often used for one-step impression techniques. All three viscosities will be available in a fast set.
All three Panasil® initial contact viscosities have a total working time of 1 minute, 30 seconds and an intra-oral setting time of 2 minutes, 30 seconds. When the fast set is introduced, it will shave 30 seconds off both the total working and the intra-oral setting times. All materials are available in the following delivery units: 2 × 50 mL with 12 mixing tips and 12 × 50 mL with 72 mixing tips.

Medium DV (Deep Vestibule) Mouthpiece for the Isolite Dryfield Illuminator Isolite Systems |
 |
The new Medium DV (Deep Vestibule) mouthpiece for the Isolite dryfield illuminator allows for more complete tongue retraction and a better fit in a patient’s mouth. Its expanded cheek shield shape provides improved suction that goes deeper into the vestibule. The new design also provides for additional suction capacity within the bite block itself, assuring saliva does not pool behind the mouthpiece.
The mouthpiece features an expanded shape of the tongue retractor for better control of the tongue and a better fit in the patient’s mouth; an expanded shape of the cheek shield for improved suction that goes deeper into the vestibule; and additional suction capacity within the bite block itself, to make certain that saliva doesn’t pool behind the mouthpiece.
Additionally, the mouthpiece sleeve is slightly larger so that it fits on to the Isolite i2 dry — field illuminator control head more easily (reducing the need for Isolite Mouthpiece Lubricant to attach the mouthpiece to the control head).
With the addition of the Medium DV mouthpiece to its product line-up, Isolite Systems now makes available five distinct mouthpieces which are designed to fit patients varying in size — from small children to large adults. Added 02/25/2009 |

Multilink Automix “Easy" Luting Cement Ivoclar Vivadent Inc. |
 |
Multilink Automix “Easy" is an “Easy Clean-Up” formulation of the self-curing luting composite with a light-curing option; it offers extended clean-up time for clinicians who prefer to pre-polymerize excess material with a dental curing light. To use the new Multilink Automix “Easy Clean-Up” formulation and “Quarter Technique” to remove excess cement, simply light-cure excess material for 2 to 4 seconds per quarter surface (ie, mesio-oral, disto-oral, mesio-buccal, disto-buccal); this causes the excess cement to obtain a gel-like consistency so that it can be easily removed with a scaler. Incorporating proprietary hydrolytically stable phosphoric acids (acidic monomers), the cement exhibitits high immediate bond strengths; efficient, durable adhesion; good marginal adaptation and effective sealing of the dentin; uncomplicated application technique; and an ability to cement restorations made from metal, metal-ceramic, all-ceramic, and composite materials.
Multilink Automix continues to be ideal for cases that require fast and reliable self-curing (chemical curing) and/or do not allow cementation to be completed with light-curing due to restricted access to light (eg, oxide ceramics).
Multilink Automix “Easy” is available in system packs that include the Multilink® Primer A/B in shades opaque, yellow and transparent, the metal/zirconia primer, Monobond-S, the Automix syringe, and various accessories. Priest Prep Kit Crown/Bridge/Veneer Preparation Instruments KOMET USA LLC |
 |
Developed in conjunction with Dr. George Priest of Hilton Head, South Carolina, the Priest Prep Kit LD 0146 contains eight burs for easy, efficient crown, bridge and veneer preparation.
Three of the instruments are fast-grinding tapered chamfer turbo diamonds in three widths (T5856.314.018, 016 and 014). They are used for axial preparation for crowns, bridges and veneers, and for the occlusal reduction of posterior teeth. For larger teeth or facial reduction, the wider burs are ideal. For getting into proximal regions, or for smaller teeth like maxillary lateral incisors or mandibular anterior teeth, the small diameter bur is more conservative, especially for veneer preparations.
The next three burs are finishing diamonds that match the sizes of the turbo series (8856.314.018, 016 and 014) and are used for preparation refining. The final two burs are coarse and fine grit football-shaped diamonds for the palatal reduction of anterior teeth (6379.314.023 and 8379.314.023).
They are supplied in an autoclavable bur block with markings for easy identification.

Composite Polishing System Kit 4564 KOMET USA LLC |
 |
KOMET USA’s Composite Polishing System (Kit 4564) is comprised of several disposable polishers designed for creating smooth and natural looking composite restorations.
Developed in cooperation with PD Dr. M. Oliver Ahlers, the Composite Polishing System includes polishing discs, polishing strips and a pop-on mandrel. Composites can be polished to high shine in just four steps using super-coarse, medium, fine and ultra-fine polishers.
The polishing discs come in 2 sizes (9 and 13 mm). The super-coarse, black disc is single-sided, and the other discs (blue, red and white) have a honeycomb design with aluminum-oxide coating on both sides. This double-sided coating allows pulling and pushing movements without time-consuming changeover. The discs are mounted onto the pop-on mandrel by applying light pressure until the user hears a click. The click indicates to the user that the disc is securely locked into place and will work practically without vibrations.
Discs and strips are disposable, while the mandrel (310.204) is designed for multiple uses, and can therefore be disinfected and sterilized. The mandrel is completely covered by the discs, which prevents discoloration and damage to the restoration. The strips’ 3-in-1 principle means that three grit sizes (medium to ultra-fine) are arranged in succession on one strip.
