Dentalcompare, the leading online product information resource for the dental industry, today announced the release of their survey report on dental purchasing habits in the United States. The survey, conducted over a two-month period and deployed through multiple channels, had over 700 completions by practicing dentists in the United States.
"In this survey, we focused on how a practicing dentist determines need, searches, discovers, and then purchases products for their practice," said Dennis O'Neill, Publisher for Dentalcompare. "No matter what type of product you sell, this report will help you better understand the information dentists are looking for, and what influences their purchasing decision."
Highlights of the report include:
- The majority of dentists own tablets and/or smartphones that are used for their business. However, they do not typically use these devices to view dental related product information.
- Half of respondents start the product discovery process because they want to use better products and/or materials in their practice. Nearly 42% of dentists list "going online" as the first step in looking for a new product.
- Dentists hold the purchasing power in the practice including both new products and consumables, with most purchasing from their sales rep.
